Lois Chidester Galloway, 89, passed away December 16, 2012 in Provo. She was born April 24, 1923 in Inverury (now Central Valley) to Arnon and Adell Brown Chidester, the second of seven children.

Shortly after her birth, Lois’ family moved to Richfield where she grew up during the Depression. While in high school she sang in the Glee Club and in a trio singing second soprano. She excelled in typing and shorthand. She learned to play the piano, practicing on the piano in the Richfield Tabernacle. World War II broke out while she was a junior in high school. After graduating she moved to Salt Lake City and attended LDS Business College. She left school to take a job at Camp Kearns Air Force Base. She became secretary to the base commander. She was privy to highly confidential information. She met Ray Calvin Galloway at the boarding house where she lived. They were married on June 24, 1946 in Salt Lake City. They were blessed with three sons: Michael, Greg and Glen. He preceded her in death, August 1, 2001.

Lois was an exceptional seamstress and crafter and loved going to craft stores with her sisters. She was a faithful member of the LDS Church. A highlight of her life was when she, her brothers and sisters and their spouses met the second Wednesday of every month to attend the temple and then go out to lunch. She loved serving the Lord.

She is survived by her sons: Michael, of Orem; Greg of Denver; and Glen (LeeAnn) of American Fork; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; siblings Max Chidester, Kearns; Reeve Chidester, Kearns; Portia (Lee) Van Sweden, Plain City; Karla Richmond, Kaysville; and Anna Chidester, Salt Lake City. Also preceded in death by parent; brother Roger; and sisters-in-law: Clista Chidester and Rocena Chidester and brother-in-law, Jim Richmond.

Private family services will be held. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Humanitarian of Book of Mormon Fund of the LDS Church.
