Linda Mickelsen
Redmond, Utah
Linda Lou Shaw Mickelsen, age 79, lost her battle with cancer and passed away on March 11, 2024 at her home in Redmond, with her family by her side. Linda was born on November 17, 1944 in the Salina hospital to Richard Lynn and Fern L Shaw. She married Bryant Mickelsen on February 8, 1964. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on October 16, 1967.
In 2015 she lost the love of her life Bryant to cancer. Bryant and Linda were the parents of five children, three boys and two girls. They raised their kids in the Salt Lake City area for 13 years before moving to Redmond.
As a young wife and mother Linda helped Bryant build their construction company. She ordered and delivered building materials to the construction sites while Bryant took care of building the homes. After moving to Redmond, Linda would drive their big red truck up north to pick up supplies. The suppliers were always impressed to see this small woman driving that big red truck. Later she and her girlfriend, Shirley Mickelsen purchased the Redmond grocery store. They named it, Shir-Lins Country Store and they provided Redmond with groceries and fun. After closing the store and remodeling it into the Mickelsen construction office, Linda found employment at the Gunnison Valley Hospital where she became friends with many of her coworkers. She worked as the director of housekeeping and loved her job. Some say they had the cleanest hospital in the state.
Linda enjoyed gardening, flowers, quilting, and sewing, washing her windows and keeping a clean home. She was a proud mom and enjoyed checking on the boys and all of their construction projects. Family is top priority to Linda. She loved her kids and grandchildren and all the traditions they created together.
She is survived by her children: Garyn (Angela) Mickelsen, Redmond; Alesha (Mark) Johnson, Salina; Nichole (Corey) Thurston, Redmond; Kevin (Heidi) Mickelsen, Salina; Joby (Starli) Mickelsen, Salina; 17 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Judy (Roger) Meyer; sisters-in-law, Joan Shaw, Nanette Shaw and Anna Shaw; brother-in-law, Trent Cowley.
