Born March 31, 1929 in Kaysville, Utah to George Fredrick Ellis and Phebe Ellen Porter, completed her work here on the earth peacefully on April 10, 2013 in Gunnison, Utah at the age of 84.

Marie met the love of her life Arnold William Sandbeck in Winnemucca, Nevada. They were married on September 8, 1950. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on September 25, 1961. After Arnold passed, Marie was working at the Copperton School where she met Harold Besmehn. They became lifelong friends and companions.

Marie was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints her entire life. She was active in the Relief Society, Daughters of Utah Pioneers and long time volunteer at the Price Senior Center. She graduated from Davis High School in Kaysville.

She loved reading, crocheting, camping, crocheting, canning, crocheting, writing and crocheting. She was noted for her generous spirit, handmade gifts, poetry and her love of people especially family and friends and her great love of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

She is survived by her companion, Harold Besmehn, Wellington; daughters: Charlotte (Kevin) Rowe Elsinore; Elaine (Merlyn) Bracken, Beaver; Beckie (Juan) Bailey, Manti; and her son, Arnold (Dee) Sandbeck, Baldwin, KS; 12 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Thomas and John Ellis; and sisters: Phebe Peterson and Janet Fink.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband; great-granddaughters: Thienduyen Thomas and Klea Lillian Star Wayman; brother: Arthur E. Ellis; sisters: Clara L. Dowdle, Ruby E. Manning, Freda H. Thomas.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 15, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Manti Stake Center,555 East Union where family and friends may call from 9:00-10:30 a.m. Burial will take place on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the Pack River Cemetery in Sandpoint, Idaho. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
