Leslie Clyde "Les" Helquist, 79, passed away March 7, 2011 at his home in Goshen, UT. He was born October 21, 1931 in Koosharem to Alfred Leo and Laura Vest Helquist. He married Lennis Mae Dickinson on October 25, 1952 in Richfield. The marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple on May 19, 2005. She preceded him in death August 1, 2010.
Les served in the Air Force from 1950 - 1954. He retired after many years of service with Mt. Bell. He loved hunting, fishing, camping and his horses. He was a long time member and also a director of the Hobble Creek Riding Club.
His survivors include his children, Janice (Brent) Choate of Spanish Fork, Douglas (Becky) Helquist of Parowan, Lennis Renae (Jeff) Day of Farmington, Karen (Steve) Young of Goshen, Laurie (Brent) Christiansen of Mapleton; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; brother, Lee (Janice) Helquist of Richfield; sisters, Leora (Jim) Johnson of Idaho, Luella Adams of Panguitch; sister-in-law, Marva Helquist of West Valley City.
He is also preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Brendon Clyde Young and siblings, Merida (Karl) Huntsman, Ilene (Garth) Roberts, Donal (Grace) Helquist, Burns (Ruby) Helquist, LaCon (Louise) Helquist, Ellen Helquist, Elman Helquist, Alfred (Carol) Helquist, Sherlene Spencer and Learl Helquist; brother-in-law, Cal Adams.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Goshen LDS Ward Chapel, 70 South Center. Friends may call at the ward chapel in Goshen on Friday evening from 6 to 8 and again on Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30. Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery with military rites. Funeral Directors, Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
