Lenore Russell Heaton passed away Saturday, June 20, 2015 at age 83, in Panguitch. Lenore was born September 25, 1931 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Eugene and Minnie Carroll Russell. She grew up in Orderville, Utah where she had fond memories of friends, family, and good times. She met her future husband at age 13 while swinging on a picket fence. They became sweethearts and dated through high school. They married for time and all eternity in the St. George Temple in July 3, 1953. Prior to that she attended Dixie College for one year and graduated from Stephen Henager’s School of Business as valedictorian.
Through her life she contributed to her family, community, and church through various practices, callings, and positions. She taught her children how to work hard, be good homemakers and provide for their families as well as to be good citizens and keep the Lord’s commandments. She taught them by precept and example. Over her life she served in many church positions including Young Women’s leader, Jr. Sunday School teacher and coordinator, Primary president, Relief Society president and teacher as well as other callings. She worked in the office for Kaibab Industries for over 25 years and was very well like by all who came in contact with her. She in turn enjoyed her coworkers and associates. Even more she enjoyed her grandchildren. After retirement she continue working in their behalf and spending time spoiling them.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Vaughn W. Heaton; and her children: JeriLu (Frank) Houston, Lorilee (Don) Cannon, Craig Heaton (Margaret Reeves); 18 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret Ann Barton.
She is preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Austin Craig Heaton; great-granddaughter, Avery Houston; brother, Gene Russell; sister, Ona Crofts.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 26, 2015 at 1 pm in the Panguitch Utah Stake Center, 550 South 100 East where friends may call Thursday, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm and Friday, 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. Interment will be at the Panguitch City Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
