Leland Claude Robinson Jr., 95, passed away March 16, 2014 in Circleville. He was born July 9, 1918 in Colonia Dublan, Mexico to Leland Claude Sr. and Elinor Victoria Spencer Robinson. He married Marjorie Alberta Clark February 15, 1944 in the Mesa Arizona Temple.
Leland was an aerial gunner in the Army Air Corp during WWII. He played college basketball and coached basketball for over 40 years. Served a mission for the LDS Church in Mexico. An ordinance worker in the St. George Temple for more than 17 years. He had an inquisitive mind and was always searching for knowledge. In his later years he bred and trained horses.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie of Circleville; children: Kirt (Marilyn) Robinson, Circleville; Leland (JoAnn) Robinson, West Haven; David (Tresa) Robinson, Circleville; Bonnie (Michael) Sessions, Modesto, CA; Kenneth (Karen) Robinson, St. George; Randy (Karen) Robinson, Clinton; Brad (Peggie) Robinson, Junction; Margie Robinson, Roy; Bill (Paula) Robinson, West Point; 41 grandchildren and 64 great-grandchildren; sisters: Minnie (Nilan) Smith, Taylorsville; Jennie Lee, Chandler, AZ.
Preceded in death by his parents; sister, Nena Lee; brothers: David Devon, Eldon, and Fahy.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 21, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the Circleville Ward Chapel, 195 West 200 South. Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the Magleby Mortuary, and Friday at the ward chapel from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Circleville Cemetery with military rites by the V.F.W.
