Leath Allred
September 30, 1921 — February 5, 2011
Our dad, grandpa, brother, and uncle, Leath Allred, passed away early Saturday morning February 5, 2011. He was 89 years old. We are thrilled he can walk again! We will miss him with his sparkling blue eyes and teasing nature.
Leath was the third child of Andrew Frank and Anna Myrtle Anderson Allred, born September 30, 1921 in Centerfield, Utah. He joined the Navy in 1942 where he learned welding, and served on a dry dock repairing ships in the South Pacific during World War II. He married Dorothy Daniels November 29, 1946 in the Manti LDS Temple. She preceded him in death February 16, 1963. He was employed by the U & I Sugar Factory as a welder and worked where they sent him - Centerfield and Garland Utah, Bell Fourche, South Dakota, Toppenish and Moses Lake, Washington and West Jordan.
Leath loved the Gunnison Valley and was happy to retire early and move back to Centerfield where he ran Allred Welding for several years. He loved to hunt and fish, and enjoyed spending time with his brothers and sisters, who were always so supportive of him and his family.
Leath is survived by his daughters and their husbands: Alison and LaVar, Leslie and Jerry, Janis and Al; 14 grandchildren, and 35 great-grandchildren; seven brothers/sisters: Max, Grant, Ken, Helen, Donna, Della and Ace. He was proceeded in death by his beloved Dorothy; his only son Vearl; grandson, Scott; parents; sister Doris; brother Everett.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Willden and the caring staff at the Gunnison Valley Hospital, and the entire team at the Centerfield Care Center for their kindnesses to Leath. You truly made a difference in his last days.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 12 at 11:00 am in the Axtell LDS Church where friends may call Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again at the ward chapel Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Centerfield Cemetery with military rites by the Oliver-Russell American Legion Post #105 and the Utah Honor Guard. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
