LaVelle Dee Fowles

March 24, 1933 — May 25, 2013

LaVelle Dee Fowles, 80, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2013 in Sterling, UT due to a long battle with cancer.  He was born March 24, 1933 in Odgen, UT to LaVelle and Evona Fowles.  He married Merle Langford on June 6, 1952 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Dee moved to Sandpoint, ID where he graduated from High School.  Dad and Mom made their home in Idaho, Washington and Utah.  Dee was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served faithfully in many different callings.  He served a temple mission with mom in the St. George Temple.  He enjoyed the outdoors, horses, rodeos, hunting with his sons and grandsons, fishing, sports – especially fast pitch softball, and most of all spending time with his family.  Dee spent several years team driving a semi-truck with his wife.  Together they traveled all over the United States.

He is survived by his four children:  Ron (Reva) Fowles, Denise (Brent) Simpson, Brian (Clare Ann) Fowles and Celeste (Scott) Sorensen, 24 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to especially thank Leslie, Heidi and Krista of Gunnison Valley Hospice, Dr. Judy and his staff for the kind and loving way they cared for our Dad.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Sterling Ward Chapel, 50 North HWY 89.  Friends may call on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at the Sterling Ward from 7:00-8:30 p.m. and also prior to services on Thursday starting at 1:00 p.m.  Interment will be in the Hooper Cemetery on Friday, May 31, 2013 at 11:00 a.m.  Funeral Directors:  Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.  Online guestbook at www.maglebymortuary.com
