Laurence Ervel "Larry" Christensen, 87, passed away November 12, 2016 at his home in Escalante. He was born April 29, 1930 in Escalante to Laurence Chris and Isabell Spencer Christensen. He married Ruth Naomi Burlingham, June 18, 1966 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple July 12, 1980. She preceded him in death March 5, 2003.
Larry served his country in both the Navy and the Air Force as a helicopter mechanic. After he retired from the military, his work continued in the field of helicopter maintenance, writing field manuals and being involved with training.
He and Ruth moved back home to Escalante from Layton in the 1990's where he enjoyed logging until being almost 80 years old.
He is survived by children: April (George III) Cepicky, Karen Christensen, Laura (Mark) Lisonbee, Gary Lee Christensen; grandchildren: Debbie (Craig) Bridgewater, Levi Christensen, Dalton (Kris) Lisonbee, Raynee Weems, Wade Christensen, Keegan Christensen, Jessica Christensen; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Canyon, Jerzy, Chanci, Chayni; siblings: Norman (Ardis) Christensen, Shiralee (Kenneth) Pratt, Sherrill "Uncle Tuck" (Dorothy) Alvey; and an extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Also preceding him in death are his parents; siblings: William Mohr, Clyde, Emerson, Nick, Julia, Howard, Samuel, Louis, Rolin.
Graveside services will take place on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Escalante Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Escalante American Legion Post #0114. Funeral Directors, Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti. Online guestbook www.maglebymortuary.com
