Laura Lee Hansen McGraw passed away on February 28, 2024 in Millcreek. She was born July 23, 1946 in Mt. Pleasant to Paul and Ruth A Anderson Hansen.
She was an extraordinary wife, mother, teacher, cook, seamstress and gardener. Laura was married to Donald Jesse McGraw (of Monrovia, California) for nearly 56 years and lived across the country from Rhode Island, Oregon, Arizona, Indiana and California, finally settling back in her hometown of Ephraim in 2008.
She had an AA from Snow College, a BA in English from Utah State, and an MEd in Remedial Reading from Oregon State and was certificated in five states in several areas. She taught Elementary Special Education in both Utah and California, and high school French in Rhode Island.
Laura was most content at home with her family and cats, puttering in her garden, sewing a variety of crafts and dolls, and decorating her house with antiques and collectibles. As she was a first-rate cook and baker, she fed her family well. She had a great sense of humor, was compassionate about animals and a vegetarian most of her life, and enjoyed gift-giving and keeping up family traditions.
Laura is survived by her husband Donald; daughters: Adrienne, Holly and Rachel; and grandchildren: Sage, Hawthorn and Hazel Lee; and her older sister, Nathalie Hansen Wilson, Ephraim; and Maureen LaRue Hansen Bailey, Vernal.
Laura will be buried in the Ephraim Cemetery near her parents Paul and Ruth Hansen. A celebration of life was held Monday, March 4, 2024 in the Magleby Mortuary in Manti. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti. Online guestbook at www.maglebymortuary.com
