LaRell Mecham "Mel" Baker, 84, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away November 24, 2014 in Richfield. He was born on Easter Sunday, April 20, 1930 in Richfield to Edward and Maggie Mecham Baker. He married Colleen Jensen in 1956. She preceded him in death, February 28, 1976. He married Nancy Jeanne Miller Droubay, August 18, 1976 in Las Vegas. They have enjoyed 38 happy years together.

LaRell lived in beautiful Boulder, Utah, until the age of eight when his family moved to Richfield and he graduated from high school. Along the way he had many good friends, including Kenneth King and Gaylin Rappleye.

LaRell joined the U.S. Air Force in 1951, serving in Germany. After returning home he found work with Mountain Bell where he worked as a technician for 35 years. After retirement he worked part-time driving cars for Labrum/Jorgensen Ford.

LaRell is survived by his wife; children: Brad Baker, Christine (Jim) Schoonover, Richard Droubay, and Julie Droubay; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; sisters: Cleo Buchanan and LaNell Lee.

He is also preceded in death his parents; siblings: Hayward Baker, Floyd Baker, Jack Baker, Dena Larsen, May Winkel and Bessie Oblad.

The family wishes to give special thanks to the Richfield Care Center and the dialysis unit at Sevier Valley Medical Center for their loving care of LaRell.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 12:00 Noon in the Magleby Mortuary Chapel, 50 South 100 West, Richfield, where friends may call from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery with military rites by the V.F.W. Sevier Post #5050 and Utah Honor Guard. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti. Online guestbook at www.maglebymortuary.com

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in LaRell’s name to Sevier Valley Medical Center Foundation, 1000 North Main, Richfield, Utah 84701, for the Dialysis Center.
