Lana Blackham
Ephraim, Utah
Our dear wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Lana Sue Peterson Blackham, returned to our loving Heavenly Father on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at her home in Ephraim. Lana was born to Thelma and Frank Peterson on November 7, 1947 in Seattle, Washington. A short time later, the family moved back to Salt Lake City to be near family while Thelma underwent cancer treatment. Sadly, Thelma passed away in 1950, leaving Frank to raise their three daughters: JoAnne, Sharon, and Lana. Frank later married Edna Wixom who was a widow and mother to Jim and Gay. They settled in Bountiful where Lana attended Bountiful Elementary, South Davis Junior High, and Bountiful High School.
While at South Davis Junior High, Lana met the studly (his words) Brent Blackham. Brent discovered early on that Lana had the most beautiful blush he’d ever seen. He made it his life goal to tease her to a point of blushing every day. Brent and Lana dated throughout their schooling, graduating from Bountiful High School in 1966. Brent and Lana were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple for time and all eternity on May 27, 1969.
Lana’s three beautiful daughters, Brandie, Keri, and Kacy, were her best-friends. When thinking of Lana’s many hobbies, the one that stands above all others is her grandchildren. She lived and breathed for them, and later for their kids. If she wasn’t at one of their sporting events, you better believe she had a very good reason. She made sure to introduce each kid to “Grandma’s Firewater”, also known as Diet Mountain Dew. Her cookie jar was always full of Laffy Taffy that had no end for her grandkids. If the grandkids were gathering, she ran to Bowman’s supermarket in Kaysville and stocked up on donuts for everyone. Lana was happiest when she was surrounded by her grandkids.
Lana lived a life of service and a deep love for everyone she met. A few minutes with her and you felt like you’d been best friends for years. She recognized everyone for who they were — children of God. Lana knew her Savior, and freely shared her testimony with those around her.
Lana leaves behind her sweetheart of 55 years of marriage, Brent; daughters: Brandie (Ryan) Wood, St. George; Keri (Robert) Thomson, Ephraim, and Kacy (Brett) Wilson, St. George; 13 grandchildren: Tyler (Lexi) Thomson, Kali (Devon) Middleton, McKenna Jones, Brenton (Tori) Thomson, Travis (Aston) Thomson, Auburn Jones, Rafe Wilson, Kamera Jones, Ripley Wilson, Grayson Jones, Brooklyn Wood, Reese Wilson, and Boston Wood; 9 great-grandchildren: Crew, Kash, Ivy, Jacie, Warren, Beau, Jack, Dawson, and Roux; step-sister, Gay Christiansen, Salt Lake City.
Lana was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Edna Peterson; infant son, Travis Blackham; sisters: JoAnne Dawson, Sharon Green; step-brother, Jim Wixom; great-grandson, Knox Thomson.
