Salt Lake City, Utah
Kim Barry Erickson passed away Saturday evening April 27, 2024, in Salt Lake City at the age of 67. He was born January 15, 1957, in Salt Lake City to Reuben David Erickson and Nola Ruth Judkins, and was the youngest of three. Kim grew up in Salt Lake City with his siblings: Paula and Scott. He married his companion Shelly Hollands and adopted his first son, Tony Hollands on April 10, 1981. During their marriage they had their son, Otto. Kim was also a proud grandfather of Tessa and Cole. Children loved Kim, he was great with kids of all ages whether they were related or not. Grandkids, nieces, nephews, he helped to tend the kids around him. “Anytime” he would say. And he would include them in whatever he was up to, teaching them all sorts of new things. Kim was a giving and caring person. He believed anyone having a hard time could rehabilitate if they really wanted to work for it. Kim would help anyone if he was able. Over the years he supported many of the friends and family around him. He lived by and taught his kids the values “Never tell a lie”, and “Never steal”. He was honest and didn’t sugarcoat the truth. Kim loved reminiscing and telling stories about his past. He would talk about hunting with his parents, how his Grandpa Otto would twist his ears, and many other stories about the good times he had with friends and family. He always had a dog around, with his most recent being Alice. In the past couple of years, he carried Alice around everywhere he went. His true passion was in cars. He passed the knowledge he had to his boys, teaching them auto mechanics, auto body, and restoration. He was entrepreneur, hard worker, and busy body. Kim loved meeting new people, going to auctions, and making a great deal. He started a family business opening a tow truck company running it with his son Otto. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and riding ATVs all over the Utah mountains and deserts. Kim loved the beauty of Utah, and never wanted to leave. He thought of Koosharem as home way from home. Kim is survived by his life companion, Shelly; sons: Otto (Keisha) Erickson, Tony Hollands; grandchildren: Tessa and Cole Erickson; sister, Paula (Jim) Conway; brother, Scott Erickson; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Reuben and Nola Erickson. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 3, 2024 at 12:00 Noon in the Koosharem Ward Chapel.
