Kent Truscott
Ramona, California
With profound sadness, yet immense gratitude for the time we shared, we announce the passing of Kent Lavon Truscott. He left this world on February 18, 2025 in Ramona, CA, after a valiant battle with cancer. Though his body drew weary, his spirit never wavered. He fought with dignity, courage, and a relentless optimism that inspired everyone around him.
Kent Truscott was a remarkable man; a devoted father and grandfather, whose kindness knew no bounds. He had an uncanny ability to make people laugh, bring light into any room, and offer words of encouragement when they were needed the most. His sense of humor was as sharp as his mind, and even in the hardest of times, he found ways to smile and reassure those around him. He also had a passion for learning and self development that allowed him to build and create nearly anything.
Kent was born in Helper, Utah to Glen Lavon Truscott and Donna Muhlstein on February 13, 1948. He was a very bright young man who excelled in school and sports. In college he married his high school sweetheart, DeAnn Barton and in 1967 together they had Michael Kent Truscott, Kent’s only son.
Kent then moved to Salt Lake City and started a career as a pilot, purchasing a small, private airport which he ran for many years.
In 1979 Kent met the love of his life, Karen West, and they married in 1982. They then relocated to San Diego, California. In 1987 they welcomed their only daughter, Jenna Truscott.
In the early 1990s Kent purchased several plots of land in Ramona California where he would spend the next several decades creating a peaceful life out in the country. He lived there until his final days in the hospital, always hopeful of returning home.
Beyond his love for his land and family, he had a passion for building, flying, the outdoors, and reading. He took joy in life’s simple pleasures and cherished activities like watering his plants, and a glass of wine. To know him was to know someone who truly lived. His young life full of fun and adventures; his later life full of peace and quiet. He embraced each day with an open heart and a steadfast belief of goodness in the world.
Throughout his battle with cancer, he remained a source of strength, reminding us all to cherish the little moments and to laugh even when life is hard; to never take love for granted. He never wanted pity, only for us to keep moving forward with the same resilience and optimism that he carried so effortlessly.
He leaves behind family and friends who adored him and will always have fond memories to share. His legacy will live on in the love he gave, the lessons he taught, and the countless lives he touched. Though we will miss him everyday, we will carry his spirit with us always.
He is survived by his son: Michael Kent (Tomoko) Truscott, Tokyo, Japan and grandchildren: Lauren, Owen, Aimee and Luke; and his daughter, Jenna Truscott, Palm Desert, CA and grandson Stevie.
