Keith Earl Nielson returned to our Heavenly Father and loved ones, who were waiting for him on Friday, February 20, 2015. His wife and son were at his side. Keith was born in Manti, UT on January 4, 1934 to Fred Sidney and Alta Ann Schlapfer Nielson. He attended school in Manti, graduating and enlisting in the Navy for 4 years. Keith then enlisted in the Army for 6 years. He spent time in Germany, Japan and Thailand. He served in the Korean War.

Keith was sealed in the Manti Temple to LaPriel Jensen on February 15, 1964. They were blessed with two sons; Bert and Boyd, and spent most of their married life in Gunnison. After his wife passed away he married Lorraine Faatz and they moved to Mayfield.

Keith was a good carpenter, constructing his own workshop, in which he made china closets, tables and such. He with his son Boyd, worked on the Mt. Timpanogos Temple. Keith enjoyed life in a quiet way. He enjoyed teaching his sons how to hunt and fish. He loved going to the Temple and doing work for his ancestors, which he and his wife did until his health declined. Keith loved his Heavenly Father and was faithful to the very end.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; sons, Bert and Boyd; sister, Judy (Gary) Towne and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Burke, Blaine and Jack; sisters, Madge and Sharon.

Keith wasn’t much with words, but his smile and nod told his approval. We miss Keith but know he his happy and well which he hasn’t been for a long time.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 27, 2015 at 12:00 Noon in the Mayfield Ward Chapel. Friends may call prior to services at the church from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Mayfield Cemetery with Military Rites by the Oliver-Russell American Legion Post #105.
