Keith Chapman

Keith Johnson Chapman, 85, died October 3, 2013, in Nephi. He was born on August 19, 1928 in Manti to James and Estella Johnson Chapman, the second of four children. He was sealed to Darlene Garrett on December 13, 1958 in the Manti Temple and they were blessed with five children.
Keith grew up in Manti and graduated from Manti High School. He attended Snow College, BYU and received a Bachelors degree in Agronomy from USU. He later received a Master’s degree in Continuing Education from Colorado State University.
Keith served in the Korean War and was in the Dominican Republic for six months as an International Farm Youth Exchange Student.
Keith was a devoted and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission to Uruguay and later served with Darlene in the Church History Mission in Salt Lake City. He filled many church callings including two bishoprics and two high councils and was a faithful home teacher. He had a great love of temple work and was an ordinance worker in the Vernal and Manti Temples.
Keith worked for the Soil Conservation Service, as a USU Extension Agent and for the Bureau of Land Management in Vernal for 30 years.
Keith’s greatest joy came from his family. He was a kind and gentle husband and father who will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years; sons: Todd (Brenda) of Orem; Layne (Lynda) of Ogden; Curt (Angie) of Herriman; Kyle (Emily) of Layton; and daughter, Heather (Roy) Doke of Sheridan, Wyoming; 19 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by his siblings: Corless Chapman, Ruth Chapman Mickelsen and JoAnn Chapman Peterson.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 7, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Manti Stake Center, 555 East Union Street, where friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Manti Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contribution to the missionary fund of the LDS Church.
