Kathleen Hart Dean, 83, passed away on February 20, 2025, due to a fall, traumatic brain injury and complications from her cancer. Kathleen was born in Tucson, Arizona, on Friday June 13, 1941, to Eugene Augustus and Mildred Young Hart. She was the second child of 6 brothers and 1 sister: Eugene Blake Hart (LuAnn Bennion) of Orem, UT, David Curtis Hart-deceased, Sherman Young Hart-deceased, John Leslie Hart (Doris Roberts-deceased) of Kaysville, UT, Elizabeth Hart Barnes-deceased (Norm Barnes of Layton, UT), Keith James Hart (Marilyn Wirthlin) of Kaysville, UT, Winston Rigby Hart (Betsey Christopherson) of Bloomington, ID. She is preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, sister and husband. Throughout her life she loved writing in her journals and documenting with pictures and memorabilia many daily and important events in her life. Kathleen graduated from Fielding Highschool and Seminary in Paris, Idaho, in the spring of 1959.
She met Russell Wayne Dean from Beaver, Utah in 1961 at Utah State University in Logan, Utah. They were married in August 1962 in the Logan, Utah Temple and were blessed with six children: Angie (Mark Hugentobler) of Ephraim, UT, Eric Russell (Janeen Moore) of Santaquin, UT, Kurt James of Ephraim, UT, Allison (Marty Evers) of Ephraim, UT, Michael Wayne (Melanie Omer) of Providence, UT, Matthew Hart (Paris Wilson) of Tampa, FL. Her hobbies included needlework, sewing, crochet, crafts of all kinds, puzzles, gardening, watching the Utah Jazz, scrapbooking, and swimming. She loved to read and always had a book nearby and was the family historian. She enjoyed creating books and histories for her children and grandchildren.
Kathleen received a Certificate of Graduation from Stevens Henagar College in 1960. She excelled at organization and secretarial work. She worked as a secretary at the Ephraim LDS Institute from 1993 to 2003. Kathleen loved her family and always worked hard to love and support her husband and children. She added beauty to everything she did. She had many talents: she was an excellent cook and her flowers and gardens were among her pride and joy. She was an active participant in Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Tatting Club, and her church group of 60+. She along with good friend Ardith Peterson started the “Widows Club” which since has evolved into the Stake Single Sisters Group. She enjoyed spending time with her friends.
Kathleen was a 15-year cancer survivor. She has 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Kathleen was busy living an active life and she loved living. She loved her family, neighbors, friends and community. She was active and serving in the Ephraim 7th Ward and held many church callings throughout her life. She is a beloved friend, daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is loved by all who know her. She will be dearly and deeply missed.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at 12:00 pm in the Ephraim Stake Center, 400 East Center, where friends may call on Monday, from 6:00 – 7:00 pm and on Tuesday from 10:00 to 11:30 am.
