Karen Nielson

On Monday, September 30, 2024, Karen Rae Nielson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away in Richfield, after a 7 -year battle with cancer. Her last days were spent surrounded by family and friends. Born to Grant and Bonnie Rasmussen on December 3, 1954, in Salt Lake City, she attended South High School and graduated with a business scholarship. She married the love of her life, Craig George Nielson on November 3, 1973.
Karen had a successful career at American Express in the human resource department. She enjoyed swimming, riding bikes and spending time with her many friends. She never went without her nails being done and always had style.
Karen loved her family, especially her six grandchildren. She spent countless hours making memories with them that will be cherished forever. She leaves behind her husband Craig; son, Chad (Alesha); daughter, Magun (Brandon); grandchildren: Harleey, Marissa, Emerson, Tyton, Kemri and Ainslee; siblings: Kevin (Dana), Keith (Marci); sister-in-law, Renon; and many nieces and nephews.
Karen was preceded in death by her mother Bonnie; father Grant; mother-in-law Norma; father-in-law Ned; and brother Kent.
The family extends a huge thank you to those who cared and supported her during this time.
A celebration of life will be on Monday, October 7, 2024 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 S. 900 E. Salt Lake City, UT. Graveside service will be held Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in the Richfield Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
