Karen Ann Johnson left this earthly life September 22, 2014 in the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, after a long and courageous battle with cancer at the age of 73. She was born May 25, 1941 to Lloyd B and Leah Boyington Johnson in Manti.

Karen graduated from Manti High School in 1959, left Manti to work and attend beauty school in Salt Lake City. After graduating, Karen moved to Ogden to work as a beautician.

Karen served in the Gulf States Mission from August 1962 to February 1964, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Upon her return she found employment in Salt Lake City where she began working in Primary Children’s Hospital in 1965. She was a diligent worker, retiring in January 2004 having worked for 39 years. During these years she came home on weekends to help in the care of her parents in their elderly years, returning to Manti after retirement to live in the family home. Karen was very strong in the LDS Church holding many positions in Relief Society, Primary and Mutual. She was a devoted worker in the Manti Temple for 9 years until her health required that she quit.

She is survived by a brother, Paul (Ellen) Johnson; brother-in-law, Larry Payne; sister-in-law, Gayle Johnson and Joylynn Johnson; 9 nephews and 2 nieces. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Joyce Payne; brothers, Grant (Cathy) Johnson, Dean Johnson and Stephen "Ray" Johnson.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 26 at 11:00 a.m. in the Manti Red Church. Friends may call Thursday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and prior to services on Friday 9:30-10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Manti City Cemetery.
