Karen Lee Dastrup

Our loving wife, mother and grandmother, Karen Lee Parsons Dastrup, 69, of Monroe, passed away suddenly December 8, 2014, at her home in Monroe. She was born in Richfield, June 11, 1945 to Aaron E and Marva Nielsen Parsons. She married David Dastrup, February 25, 1966, in the Manti LDS Temple.
Karen worked as a legal secretary for Carvel Mattson. She worked at First Security Bank in Monroe and retired after 18 years as Monroe City Treasurer. She supported her husband on the farm.
Her hobbies included: genealogy, all kinds of needlework, reading, keeping in touch with family, and enjoying her friends in the card club.
As a grandma, she loved being with her grandchildren.  She liked to visit and play games with them.  She was concerned how her grandchildren were doing and supported them in their endeavors. She also had a tender heart toward animals.
She is survived by her husband, David; a daughter Lori (Jason) Mitchell, all Monroe; and grandsons: Morgan Mitchell, Cedar City; and MaCalin Mitchell, Monroe; siblings: Kent (Connie) Parsons, Monroe; Rhea Duffin, Richfield.
Preceded in death by parents; brother-in-law, Leland Duffin.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 13, 2014 at 12:00 Noon in the Monroe LDS Stake Center. Friends may call Friday, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Magleby Mortuary in Richfield, and at the church Saturday in Monroe from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.  Burial will be in the Monroe Cemetery.
