Joyce R. Owens Knaphus, 83 of Richfield, passed away October 11, 2014 in Richfield. She was born December 28, 1930 in Joseph to Waldo Morgan and Grace Joos Owens. She married Loyd Martin Knaphus, June 17, 1949 in Joseph. The marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple, December 2, 1954. He preceded her in death April 4, 2005.

Joyce was a member of the LDS Church where she fulfilled many callings. She sang in the ward choir and with the Singing Mothers. She loved to write and share her poetry and was a member of the Utah League of Writers. She was a longtime member of the Utah Daughters of Pioneers and the Richfield Jr. Culture Club. She was an avid genealogists and worked at the local family history library.

Joyce is survived by children: Thomas (Charlotte) Knaphus, Glenwood; Jan Beutler, Sandy; Jeannie (Dave) Ballard, Syracuse; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; siblings, Reta Meacham, Monroe; Edward Owens, Phoenix, AZ; Mack (Karen) Owens, Prescott, AZ; Jim (Carol) Owens, Ray (Twila) Owens, both of Joseph.

She is also preceded in death by a son, Aaron Knaphus; parents; brother, Hal Owens; grandson, Jory Ballard.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 17, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Richfield 16 ^th Ward Chapel, 805 North 500 East. Friends may call at the Magleby Mortuary in Richfield on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 or at the ward chapel on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery.
