John Richard Jorgensen

July 28, 1934 — October 1, 2018

John Richard Jorgensen, 84, passed away October 1, 2018 at his home in Redmond, Washington from Parkinson's Disease. He was born on July 28, 1934, in Santa Monica, California, to Blix and Celia Poulson Jorgensen, a Utah couple who returned to their home in Salina when he was four. He was raised on farms and ranches in and around Salina. He married Nadine Nelson on May 25, 1953 in Salt Lake City. They had three daughters and later divorced. He married his 4th wife, Marilyn Milburn on September 10, 2013 in Wenatchee, Washington.

Richard graduated from North Sevier High School, in 1952 and moved to Salt Lake City to continue his education. From there he migrated to California, then Hawaii, entering the construction trade. As a developer and general contractor, he went on to build and develope several properties in Oahu, Maui, Kauai and Molokai. He retired as president of JDH Construction in 1995 and moved to Washington state, continuing the development of homes in Omak, for his corporation, DJ Building Consultants, Inc.

Richard enjoyed fishing in Hawaii, on the Snake and Columbia Rivers, and on his boat in Canada with family and friends. Fun times were always had fishing on Fish Lake, in Utah. He was also an avid golfer.

He loved his family and friends and enjoyed coming home for many family reunions. His Norweigan ancestors were pioneers to the Utah and Sevier County areas. Richard was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He is survived by his wife Marilyn; children: Cynthia Miller, Long Beach, CA; Marianne (Stan) Brown, Redmond, UT; grandchildren: Jamie (Dustin) Helquist, Springhill, TN; Burke Brown, Redmond, UT; Naquel Wilson, Mt. Pleasant;  sisters: Roberta Summers-Miller, Farmington, NM; April Monday, Chelan, WA; Michael (Pamela) Jorgensen, Salina, UT; 8 great-grandchildren, and 2 nephews.

He is proceeded in death by his parents; daughter, Laura Mayfield; grandson, Andrew Mayfield; son-in-law, Ronald Miller; and brother-in-law, Tom Miller.

Services are pending and will be held at a later date in Washington.
