John "Jack" Stoney Yardley

John Stoney Yardley

Panguitch, Utah

John "Jack" Stoney Yardley, 88, of Panguitch, Utah passed away October 20, 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born September 14, 1926 in Hatch, Utah to John Alfred and Lareeta Stoney Yardley.

After graduating from high school, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in occupied Japan following the end of World War II. Upon discharge from the Army, he returned to Panguitch and met Ivadell Stapley who was working at Ruby’s Inn. They married September 4, 1949 in Ely, NV, and were sealed March 29, 1957 in the St. George Temple. They were married 64 years before she passed on November 7, 2013.

John lived in Panguitch most of his married life. He was a rancher his whole life. He also worked as a millwright for Kaibab Industries in Panguitch for a period of time. He was the first rancher in Panguitch valley to install a sprinkler irrigation system on his farm for which he received recognition from the Utah Farm Bureau. John continued to work on his land through his 87 th birthday. He taught his children and grandchildren the value of hard work. He was a selfless and devoted father and grandfather.

John is survived by his children: Connie J. (Kay) Davis, Belton, MO; Robert D. (Barbra) Yardley, Richmond, UT; Shirley Yardley, David C. (Cauleen) Yardley and Kathy (Richard M.) Carpenter all of Las Vegas, NV; Karen D. Yardley, West Hills, CA; Thomas Alan (Shelley) Yardley, Panguitch, UT; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings: Donna Peterson, Panguitch, UT and Carl Yardley, Las Vegas, NV.

He is also preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Michael Dakota Yardley; siblings: James F. Yardley, Robert S. Yardley, Rama L. Bruhn and Clark W. Yardley.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the Panguitch 2 nd LDS Ward Chapel, 178 North 400 East, where friends may call on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Panguitch Cemetery with military rites by the Panguitch American Legion Post #25 and Utah Honor Guard. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
