John Elmer Thomas, 70, passed away in his Salt Lake City home December 16, 2016. Born January 22, 1946 to Jacob Elmer and Charlota Petersen Thomas. John grew up in Magna and graduated from Cypress High. Married Roilynne Shaw on July 2, 1975. John was a faithful member of the LDS Church. He loved his family, fishing, gardening and the Broncos.
Survived by his wife Roilynne; three sons: Christopher John (Nina), Jesse Leroy and James Dylan; daughter, Toni Joel; grandsons: Jace Christopher and Kaden; sister, LaRae (Hal) Naylor; brothers: Keith (Faye) Thomas and Richard (Gloria) Thomas
Preceded in death by parents; three sisters: Bernice (Dick) Towels, Margaret (Darrell) Lester and Fern (Paul) Pixton.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Cottonwood Heights 5th LDS Ward Chapel (7075 S. 2245 E. - Cottonwood Heights), where friends may call Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. Funeral Directors, Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Gunnison.
