John Christian Johnson, 70, of Richfield, Utah, died Saturday April 5, 2014 near Richfield.
He was born March 6, 1944 in Elsinore, Utah to Keith Quinton and Ruby Jepsen Johnson. He married Linda "Bunni" Winget on June 22, 1964, who preceded him in death, September 30, 1986.
He attended South Sevier High School. John served in the United States Military and worked in Southern Utah for the BLM early in his life. In 1968 he and his family moved to McGill, Nevada to work at the Kennecott Copper Mine. He moved back to the Richfield area in 1985 where he gained a reputation as the best gardener in the area. Many a yards were transformed from yellow to green by his green thumb. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and riding his four-wheelers.
John also had a great talent of working with wood. From his little wood shop behind his house, many wooden toys were made to the joy and delight of each recipient. John loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He always made sure when they visited each one received a wooden toy from his shop. John is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Three daughters survive him: Leigh Anne (James) Warren, Richland, Washington; Michelle Johnson, Richfield, Utah; and Kristina (David) Wissinger, West Jordan, Utah; sister, Judy Murdock, Monroe, Utah. Eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive him.
At John's request, a graveside service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at the Monroe City Cemetery where military rites will be provided by the Utah National Guard Honor Guard.
