John Caby Ellis Jr.
Monroe, Utah
John went out with his boots on at his home in Monroe, UT when his 70-year-old ticker finally decided it just couldn't keep up with him anymore. This cowboy was born in Silsbee, Texas to Joy Nelline and John Caby Ellis Sr. He leaves behind his wife-- Linda J. Ellis; his 5 children: Mitzie Ellis, Desi Chaston, JW Ellis, Zane Ellis, Adena Mello; his 4 stepchildren: Cason Hawley, Taylor Hawley, Kelsey Sorensen, Jaxon Lindgren; along with their families.
In his younger years, John served his country in the U.S. Army. He went on to work in law enforcement for over 30 years where he specialized in narcotics. Twelve and a half of those years were with the Ventura County, California Sheriff's Department with the remaining years with the Utah Department of Public Safety.
John had a deep love for God and family. His last days on earth were filled mostly with farming, fishing, aviation, watching rodeos, and being called "old man" and "papa" by his ever growing posterity. This grumpy old cuss will be greatly missed by many.
John's loved ones will be holding a graveside service in his honor on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at 12:30 PM in the Monroe City Cemetery. Friends are welcome to come to call at the cemetery graveside after 12:00 Noon. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti. Online guestbook at www.maglebymortuary.com
