John Busk

Elsinore, Utah

John Nielsen Busk, 79, passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2014, at his home in Elsinore. He was born September 5, 1935, in Bingham, Utah, the son of Stiner and Golda Pectol Busk. He was the loving husband of Patricia Christiansen for 54 years. They were married January 24, 1959, in the Manti LDS Temple. She preceded him in death November 23, 2013.

John was reared in Elsinore, graduated from South Sevier High School in 1953, where he was active in sports, especially baseball and basketball. John always bragged that he held the record in state basketball tournaments for fouling out with five fouls in five minutes. He was very coordinated and fast on his feet. He went on to play baseball for Branch Agricultural College (now SUU) in Cedar City. John also played a sword fighter in a theater production there. He served in the USA North-West LDS Mission.

He graduated from Utah State University, where he was active in the business club. He worked in banking and later started his own construction business, building in the Logan and Salt Lake areas as well as constructing many post offices throughout the state. After retirement, he and his wife moved to Elsinore, a place to which John longed to return. He constructed a beautiful home on his Grandfather John Busk’s old farm property, giving his customary care to fine craftsmanship. In Elsinore, John served on the town council and gave much service to improve the community. John made friends easily wherever he went with his helpful attitude and clever sense of humor. He was active in the LDS Church.

John is survived by his children: David (Heidi) Busk, Julie (Steve) Pfister, and Jennifer (Darin) Worden. He took pride in the activities and accomplishments of his eight grandchildren: Steven (Nina) Pfister, Paul Busk, Sarah Busk, John Pfister, Jessica (Ian) Worden Anderson, Kirsten Pfister, Jane Busk, and Nash Worden; his brother, Neal P. (Judy) Busk; and his sisters: Lydia Jane Gudmundsen and Dorothy (Brad) Thompson.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carol Larsen; brother-in-law, Dick Gudmundsen.
