Joan Carol Conner Grimlie, 80, passed away in Provo as result of injuries sustained that day in an automobile accident September 22, 2013 in Richfield. She was born March 31, 1933 at the family home in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Matthew D. and Edith Mary Black Conner. She married Donald "Curley" Grimlie in 1954. They later divorced.
In her teen years, Joan lived with a favorite uncle, Jay Rasmussen, and his wife Marie, where she graduated high school in Souix Falls. She attended a secretarial course and spent much of her life as a secretary and bookkeeper in Nebraska, Wyoming and Texas. After her retirement from Chevron in 1996, she moved to Richfield to be close to her grandchildren. She was involved in volunteer work with hospice and served on the boards for foster care through DCFS and the Park Retreat Association.
Joan was a faithful member of Good Shepard Lutheran Church and was actually on her way to church at the time of the accident. She enjoyed her weekly bible study and her association with the members.
Joan had a beautiful singing voice. She loved to dance. In fact, she met Curley at a social mixer. Later in life, she continued to dance until her health didn’t allow it. She loved playing games and cards with her grandchildren.
Joan is survived by children: Michael (Sindy) Grimlie, Richfield; Toni (Rodney) Patik, Casper, WY; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren; siblings: Garland "Bud" (JoAnn) Conner, Ottumwa, IA; Nita (Tom) Silvers, Kennewick, WA; Larry (Cheri) Conner, Denver, CO; Judy Conner, Richland, WA.
Preceded in death by parents; daughter, Patricia Jo Grimlie; brother, David Conner.
