Jimmy Dean Frost

February 10, 1940 — January 29, 2017

Jim Frost

Elsinore, Utah

Jimmy Dean Frost, 76, rode off to his final sunset on January 29, 2017 at his home in Elsinore. He was born February 10, 1940 in Pritchett, Colorado to Tim Fount and Hazel Mort Frost. He married Geraldine Mitchell in 1959, they later divorced. He then married Arlene Horrocks, June 18, 1988 in Bakersfield, CA.

We can’t forget about many other rides he rode. The ride in the old coupe from Colorado to Deep Creek was the first step to creating The Frost Brother’s Ranch. The cowboys scraped out a living doing the things they loved—from the dude ranch, to their hunting escapades—they worked hard and enjoyed it.

As a skilled tradesman, Jim was known to fix about anything. He used to say, "I could weld toilet paper if I had the right rod".

After 11 years and three kids later, he packed up camp and rode to Randlett, Utah, where he continued to farm, ranch and rodeo.

After 15 years it was time to pack up again and head to the high desert land of Emery County. Jim loved the desert. Louis Lamour said, "The desert preserves what other land destroys, the desert keeps. It accepts dead things, holds them close, and draws away the rot that would destroy; given time, it mummifies or crystalizes." Jim found arrowheads, scrapers, crystals, rusted rifles, and many other things the desert preserved.

Their final move was to Elsinore, Utah where Jim and his sweetheart, Arlene, hung up their ranch hats and wrangled the hearts of the entire community. The Cowboy Corral was a destination location for many. Countless people stopped for a friendly family meal, to hear live music, and to be entertained by mostly true, but always entertaining conversation. Nobody left Jim at the Cowboy Corral without a full belly and full spirit. Jim had a gift to talk to anyone. Not simply "hello", but deep, caring conversation was his gift.

Jim is survived by his wife, Arlene; and children: Tammy (Scott) Einerson, Darlene (Reed) Abegglen, and Monty (Traci Ann) Frost; 9 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; step-children: Vickie Jo Macon, Randall Taylor, Melody Beutler, Maralee Richens; 10 step-grandchildren, 18 step-great-grandchildren and 3 step-great-great-grandchildren; siblings: B. T. (Mary) Frost, Clyde (Elsie) Frost, Audrey (Steve) Benson, Alan (Mona) Jones.

Preceded in death by parents; brother, Joe (Lucille) Frost, sister, NimiLee Bechtle.
