Jennifer Hicks

Central Valley, Utah

Our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Jennifer Nowers Hicks, 59, passed away August 7, 2017 at her home in Central Valley, Utah surrounded by her loving family following a courageous three-year battle with cancer. She was born February 12, 1958 in Delta, Utah to John Robert "Bob" and Laura Leavitt Nowers. She married her eternal companion, John Lynn Hicks, February 17, 1978 in Richfield, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Utah LDS Temple.

Jennifer grew up in Richfield, where she graduated from Richfield High School, and later attended Dixie State College in St. George. Together with her loving husband, Jennifer raised her family in Central Valley. Jennifer spent 33 years in the banking industry during which she thoroughly enjoyed her work, the interaction with the community, and particularly the many friendships she made over the years. Those who knew Jennifer admired her work ethic, which was especially influential in shaping her children’s lives.

As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Jennifer faithfully served in a number of callings over the years.

Jennifer’s greatest calling and joy in life was being a mother to her three boys, who were the light of her life. Her life revolved around her children, whether it meant encouraging their academic success or the many hours spent attending sporting events. Jennifer loved planning and going on family vacations with her husband and children while making memories that her family will forever cherish. Later in life, Jennifer was blessed to receive three wonderful daughters-in-law and her grandchildren that she adored.

Mom, you are the most wonderful mother a son could ask for, and you will be greatly missed by your family and friends!

Jennifer is survived by her husband John, Central Valley; children: Reny (Kimberlee) Hicks, Houston, Texas; Ryan (Jessica) Hicks, Los Angeles, California; Robbie (Cara) Hicks, North Salt Lake; grandchildren: Blake, Cambree, Brielle, Aubree, Hallie, and one baby girl on the way; step-children: John Stacy Hicks, Emmitt, Idaho; Shawn Hicks, Boise, Idaho; Shannon (Craig) Stacey, Boise, Idaho; and 4 step-grandchildren; mother, Laura Leavitt Nowers, Richfield; siblings: John (Debbie) Nowers, Richfield; Marilyn (J.D.) Porter, Holladay; Daniel Nowers, Richfield; Aimee (Paul) Ellis, Kaysville; Kenneth (Julie) Nowers, Fruit Heights; sister-in-law, Lisa (Scott) Nowers-Carroll, Draper.

Jennifer was preceded in death by her father, John Robert "Bob" Nowers, and brother, Mark Andrew Nowers.
