Jeanine Wilkinson
Glenwood, UT
Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Jeanine Sorensen Wilkinson, 72, returned to her heavenly home and the awaiting arms of her sweetheart, Arlo, on July 20, 2014, surrounded by her family, following a valiant battle with cancer.
Jeanine was born on May 25, 1942 in Glenwood, Utah, to Junius and IvaLee Sorensen. She attended elementary school in Glenwood, Junior High and High School in Richfield and Ex’Cel’Cis Beauty School in Salt Lake City where she became a licensed beautician. She married Arlo Wilkinson on July 19, 1963 in the Manti LDS Temple. She served in many church callings but the one she treasured most was that of a junior primary teacher. Her love of the Book of Mormon and her unwavering testimony were evident in the way she lived her life.
Jeanine has never known riches or popularity but what she has known is the joy and happiness that comes from serving those around her. Her Christ like service has so deservingly earned her the title “Mother of Glenwood”. She was known for her famous pink cookies and many other tasty dishes she so freely shared.
Jeanine always enjoyed her family being together and the time she spent with her grandchildren. She provided many special memories for them by throwing annual “grandkids” parties, which she so thoughtfully planned for months, and held each summer. She delighted in their accomplishments and in watching them perform and play sports.
She was our angel on earth and was so loved and revered by many. Certainly her life of love and compassionate service has earned her great rewards in heaven.
Jeanine is survived by her five children, Randy, Draper; Robyn (Mike) Mills, Monroe; Shannon (Chris) Hansen, Spanish Fork; Sheree Wilkinson, Salt Lake City; Valerie (Rulon) Jones, St. George; 11 grandchildren; 2 great grand daughters; siblings, Rosalie Christensen, Nan Bodily, Marilyn Fleming, Kaye Bybee, Richard Sorensen, Julie Richens.
She was preceded in death by her husband on December 13, 1983; her parents, and two siblings.
Her great legacy of faith, courage, love and compassionate service will live on in our lives forever. We love you, Mom, and know it is finally Dad’s turn to enjoy a batch of your delicious pink cookies.
