Our dear Jeanette "Judy"Colby Sharpe, age 77, of Sigurd, Utah, passed away October 22, 2017, in Provo, Utah following an extended illness. Judy was born September 3, 1940 in Vermillion, Utah to Joseph Duane and Pearl Magleby Colby. She grew up in Sevier County, having never been out of Utah until she married Thomas D Sharpe Sr on January 25, 1960. As wife of a soldier, they lived in Germany, Alaska, South Carolina, and many other states until he retired in 1978. They settled back in Sigurd, where their faith and testimony grew as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and were sealed eternally on May 19, 1979, in the Manti Temple.
Although she had worked full time for many years, her life was devoted to being a wife, mother, and grandmother. Her strength was often drawn on by her family. Her avid support of her husband’s callings and VFW interests provided countless hours of service, she also served in many callings in the church. In 1995-96 they served in the Arcadia California Mission and in 2009 as they prepared for their second mission call to South Carolina Columbia Mission, he died suddenly in an accident. On June 15, 2015 she married a childhood friend, Devon Nay. They have had two loving years together.
She is survived by her spouse, Devon Nay; children: Tom Jr. (Nadine), DeAnna (Scott) Thomas, "Chip" Sharpe, Judy (Tony) Adame, and Janey (Bill) Sharp; 27 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; siblings: David (Claudette) Colby, Dian Holt. Her beloved in-laws of South Carolina.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas Sr; brother, Allen Joseph; daughter-in-law Lizbeth, and a grandson, AJ.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sigurd LDS Ward Chapel. Friends and family may call at the Magleby Mortuary in Richfield on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the ward chapel in Sigurd from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Sigurd Cemetery.
