Jay Ballard Sampson passed away peacefully in his home November 5, 2018 in San Jose, California. Jay was born in Richfield, June 5, 1933, to Dewy and Crystal Jorgensen Sampson. He was the fifth of 10 children. He was raised in Richfield, where he was known as Ballard, and graduated from Richfield High School in 1951.

He served a three-year mission in Mexico for The Church of Jesus Crist of Latter-day Saints.

Jay married Dalene Doney, August 30, 1957, in the Salt Lake City Temple. They were blessed with four children. After graduating from the University of Utah in electrical engineering, Jay and Dalene moved to San Jose, California, where he worked for IBM for 25 years.

Jay is survived by his loving wife, Dalene; children: Paula (Bart) Loundagin, Steve, Valerie Clark and Blair (Raquel); 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
