Jay David Nielson passed away peacefully at his residence in Salt Lake City on January 24, 2013. He was born July 5, 1917 in Manti to John and Freda Nielson.

Jay was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the Army in WWII as a communication specialist.

He is survived by his children, David Nielson, Trena (Gene) Calder, Edwin (Karen) Steward, step daughters Joanna Peterson, Patsy Reed and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Dorothy Larsen, his second wife Claris Christensen, and his daughter Karen Steward Anderson.

Graveside services and military rites will be held Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at 12 Noon in the Ephraim Park Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 4-7 p.m. at Deseret Memorial Mortuary, 36 East 700 South, in Salt Lake City on Monday. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
