James "Jim" Derrell Holt

Glenwood, Utah

James "Jim" Derrell Holt, 88, of Glenwood, Utah, passed away February 5, 2015, at his home in Glenwood. He was born June 18, 1926, in Delta, Utah to Derrell Vernet and Thelma Andreasen Holt.

Jim married Nola Dean Keeler on September 4, 1948, in Richfield. The marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple, October 1, 1956. She was his one true love and they were happily married for 66 years.

Jim retired on January 1, 1989 from Georgia Pacific Corporation in Sigurd, where he had been employed for forty years. At the time of his retirement he was quality and personnel supervisor. After retirement, he and Nola enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. They both enjoyed rock hounding, fishing, hunting, and spending time in the mountains riding their ATV’s. Family was Jim’s number one love in life and he would do anything for his three children. He could do, make or repair almost anything, and if he didn’t know how, he would research until he learned. Sharing his vast knowledge of many different subjects brought him great pleasure. One of his favorite pastimes was traveling to the mountains with his painting friends, where he would capture the landscapes he loved in watercolor. He became a wonderful artist. Jim also made beautiful silver jewelry using gemstones which he found, cut and polished himself.

His life was always lived with honor and integrity along with kindness and a quick sense of humor.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Nola; children, Maria Chamberlain, Monroe; Wayne (Janet) Holt, Glenwood; and Sandy (Jim) Roberts, Monroe; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dean V. Holt.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Glenwood LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the ward chapel in Glenwood on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
