James McElfresh

Richfield, Utah

James Lee McElfresh, 75, passed away June 16, 2013 in Richfield. He was born February 23, 1938 in Grand Junction, CO to Raymond S and Edith Egger McElfresh. He married Myrlyn "Lyn" Lucretia Coffey, November 1, 1961, in Montrose, CO.

James served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. As a veteran, he was a member of the V.F.W. Sevier Post #5050. James was the lab manager of SUFCO Mine for many years. He served as a deacon in the Catholic Church for 18 years.

James loved going to his cabin in Pitkin, CO. He was an amateur photographer, with thousands of pictures to remember him by. A fix-it man, he took care of everything around the house. An avid gardener, we’re already enjoying the peas he planted this year.

James loved his family. His grandchildren remember conversations emphasizing the importance of education. He always wanted to see them laugh. He spent as much time with his children and grandchildren as he could, having fun, sharing his wisdom, and engaging in good conversations.

Survived by his wife, Lyn of Richfield; children: Chris McElfresh, San Jacinto, CA; Phillip (Tracy) McElfresh, Tuscon, AZ; Jennipher Hulse, Logan; daughter-in-law, Martha McElfresh, Escondido, CA; 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson; brothers: Bob (Donna) McElfresh, Denver, CO; Don (Susan) McElfresh, Colorado Springs, CO.

Preceded in death by parents; son, Steve McElfresh; son-in-law, Adam Hulse.

Cremation services have been held. Memorial services will be Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church with military rites by the V.F.W. Sevier Post #5050 and Utah Honor Guard. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
