Our loving step-dad, step-grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, James Thomas Knowler, 91, left this earth on April 29, 2018 in Richfield, to be with the love of his life, our mother, Grace Emerson Knowler. He had a short illness and died unexpectedly of congestive heart failure. He was born March 19, 1927 in Wimbledon, London, England as the only son of James and Eliza Webber Knowler and brother to two older sisters, Muriel and Doris. Mom and Jim were married in 1986 in Los Angeles, California.

The first 26 years of his life were lived in England. Jim was a lanky young fellow and at the age of 13 he served as a "spotter" of the German Luftwaffe, planes that tried to decimate London in World War 11. Most children were evacuated at this time, but Jim stayed in London, thus creating his great resilience. Jim was a member of the Boy Scouts Association in England from 1936-1941; the Air Training Corps from the Queens Army, serving around the world until 1953. On April 5, 1953, Jim arrived at the port of New York, New York on the S.S. United States as a non-immigrant student. In 1957 he graduated from Saint Paul’s Bible Institute, St. Paul, Minnesota with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music. He has since served a lifetime as a Christian Minister know as the "Singing Pastor."

Jim had many great qualities: singing, his love of family and animals, and his love of the Lord, research and great English cooking.

His dream, from a young child, was to live in America, specifically the Rocky Mountains. He was proud to be an American, and was awarded citizenship in 2011...so the stoic smiled a big one that day.

He is survived by his sisters Muriel and Doris, London, England; his step-children: Glen and Colleen McGhie, Toll House, CA; Bobbe and Brad Allen, Salina; Karen Eblen, Magnolia, TX; 11 step-grandchildren and 26 step-great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a step-granddaughter, Frankie Allen.
