With heavy hearts, we announce that on September 29, 2024, Jaden Richard Barton made his ascent from mortality. Jaden was born in Eugene, Oregon on December 1, 1998. Although his mom tried to teach him the ways of the wondering star, he knew his home was in Sanpete. Jaden graduated from Manti High School in 2017. His empathy, humor, and innate wise view of the world impacted everyone he came into contact with. All who knew him will deeply miss his presence, as he has left us for now, far too soon.
Jaden followed in the footsteps of his dad as “the best” heavy equipment operator, while his grandfather trained him in the ways of farming and livestock. He loved being outside, and could often be found fishing or hiking through the hills. His soft spot for birds and love of nature exhibited his gentle disposition. He also enjoyed watching western films with his grandpa, especially those starring Lee Van Cleef. He admired traditional narrative techniques and found lots of joy in the writings of Tony Hillerman and Louis L’Amour.
Self-taught on the piano, Jaden developed a deep love for music from a young age. He had a very strong bond with his brother Oakley, whom he w ould often jam out with on their guitars. To expand his musical talents, he also recently began learning to play base guitar. His amazing taste in music was an authentic representation of his old soul. We’re confident this Free Bird has found his Stairway to Heaven and is now residing In the Light.
Jaden was known for his profound way with words and had a unique ability to connect with others through his warmth and charm. His beloved Grandpa Barton was more like a father to him, helping Jaden become a mentor to his younger brother Oakley. He adored all of his siblings and expressed it through his protective attitude, especially toward his sisters. Jaden also enjoyed spending time with his great grandmothers; accompanying Grandma Barton on outings and playing games with Grandma Leisek. These relationships testify to his loving spirit.
He is survived by his loving parents, Richard and Amber Draper, and Melinda and Mandon Francks; his siblings, Oakley, Emily, Lillianna, and Britain Francks, and Trieden and Kaleb Wilkins; his grandparents: Pamela Fisher, Russell Barton, and Dennis Fisher; great-grandmothers: Barbara Sue Barton, Joyce Leisek; and many other family members and friends.
As we mourn the loss of Jaden, we celebrate the profound impact he had on our lives. He has now joined his good friend, Kade Christiansen, and grandmother Lana Nelson in eternal peace; also great-grandfathers: Donald K. Barton, Charles R. Leisek. Jaden will be missed beyond words, but his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him. May his memory continue to inspire us to appreciate life, cherish our loved ones, and find joy in the simple things.
