Ivan J. Washburn, 83, of Monroe, UT passed away on May 6, 2019 at his home. Ivan was born on October 22, 1935 in Glenwood, Utah, to Deleal and DeVeda Oldroyd Washburn. He married Carole Louise Hoover on November 17, 1953, in Richfield, Utah

Ivan cherished all the good friends he made as he was in the coal and furnace business. His favorite job was doing the crossing guard duty on Monroe Main Street, by the elementary school. He waved at everyone passing by and always wore a smile. He enjoyed working in his yard. Summertime he had his and Melyssa’s rainbow flower garden. At Christmastime he put up the nativity scene, lights on the house and garage, and even Santa and reindeer on the house top.

He is survived by his wife, Carole; children, Wayne (Norma) Washburn, Rose Marie (Richard) VanDyke, Janis Louise (Clifford) Roderick; daughter-in-law, Kenra (Waldo) Martinez; grandchildren: Jody (Mark) Stapel, Josh (Shantel) Christensen, Daynene (Ray) Snyder, Anthony (Sofie) Van Dyke, Sarah May Luke, Darvin (Ilia) Luke; granddaughter-in-law, Melanie Washburn; 21 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren; brother, VerDon (SueAnn) Washburn; brother-in-law, Robert Willden.

Preceded in death by parents; son, Blaine Washburn; grandchildren: Richard "Ricky" Washburn, Melyssa Washburn; sister, Twila Willden.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 12:00 Noon in the Monroe 5th Ward, 140 South Main. Friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Magleby Mortuary and Saturday at the ward chapel in Monroe from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Monroe City Cemetery.
