Richfield, Utah – Helen Viola Hanchett Strang, 93, passed away November 23, 2012 in Murray, Utah. She was born April 25, 1919 in Annabella, Utah to Byron Martin and Mary Viola Burr Hanchett. She married Donald Rex Strang, February 27, 1941 in Annabella. The marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple, February 27, 1953, he preceded her in death May 2, 1983.

She worked for 30 years with Dr. Dewey as his nurse/receptionist. After Dr. Dewey passed away, she continued working for Dewey Investment Company. She loved spending time with her family at the cabin on the way to Fish Lake. She was an avid rock and drift wood collector and had quite the collection around her house. She thoroughly enjoyed reading Hanchett and Burr family histories as well as WWII histories.

Helen is survived by her daughter, Frances Atkinson of Provo; grandchildren, Gary and wife Tiffini Atkinson and Stacie and husband Equator Pohahau both of Spanish Fork; great-grandchildren, Quaid and Keaton Atkinson; EJ and MaiLia Pohahau.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a son-in-law, Stephen Atkinson; and 16 brothers and sisters.

The family extends their appreciation to the staff and management of Canyon Breeze in Orem and also to Care Source in Murray for the care given during her final hours. Helen missed her home in Richfield, but was warmly received at her new home in Orem.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 29, 2012 in the Magleby Mortuary, where friends may call Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:30. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery. Online guestbook www.maglebymortuary.com
