Harriet Charles

July 3, 1947 — October 6, 2018

Harriet Dian Scott Charles, 71, passed away October 6, 2018 in St. George.  She was born in Eldon, Missouri, July 3, 1947 to Andrew Jackson and Ruth Maxine Price Scott.  Her father was a sergeant in the army, so the family moved around a lot in her childhood years.  The family lived in Bar-le-Duc, France and Regensburg, Germany.  While in Europe, the family took the opportunity to travel through the different countries.  She also moved around the U.S. to the different posts where her father was assigned.
When her father retired from the military, the family settled in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  She graduated from Harrison High School in 1965.  She attended Blair Business College and worked as a legal secretary for the Colorado Department of Social Services.
One of her hobbies was roller skating.  It was at a roller rink where she met her future husband, Casey in 1966.  They dated off and on until Casey moved back to California in 1970.  They started corresponding and while Casey was at the Army Intelligence School at Ft. Bragg, NC, he surprised her by proposing over the phone.
Casey didn’t call for three days, and Dian didn’t tell anyone because she wasn’t sure that she heard him right.  They married on September 5, 1975, a marriage that has lasted 43 years, 1 month and 1 day.
After the marriage, they moved to Pasadena, California, where she worked as a legal secretary, a secretary at The California Institute of Technology, and finally, as a certified nursing assistant.
In 1988, they moved to Prescott, AZ where she worked as a security guard and later as a receptionist at a local radio station.
In January of 2014, Dian and Casey bought a house in Panguitch, Dian moved in in April while Casey continued to get the Prescott house ready for sale.
On August 23, 2014, Dian and Casey were baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. On September 5, 2015, they received their endowments and were sealed in the St. George Utah Temple. She has since enjoyed serving in the Cedar City Temple with her husband. She enjoyed serving others and was always ready to help anyone in need.
Surviving her is her beloved husband Casey of Panguitch; brother, James (Lottie-Lee) Scott, Colorado Springs, CO; nephew, James C. (Samantha) Scott, Colorado Springs, CO; his children: Andrew Scott, Liam Scott; niece, Lucinda (Jason) Kozisek, Falcon, CO and her child, Sienna Kozisek.  She is preceded in death by her father and mother.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Panguitch 2nd LDS Ward Chapel, 200 North 400 East, where friends may call prior to the services from 9:30 to 10:30.
