Harlow Floyd Brown, 87, of Koosharem, passed away January 16, 2025, in Richfield from natural causes. Harlow was born November 29, 1937, to Floyd Heber Brown and Inza Priscilla Ashby at the family home in Koosharem.
On August 24, 1962, Harlow married Carol Jeanette Pierce in the Manti Temple, they later welcomed two children and went on to celebrate 50 years of marriage. After Carol’s death in 2014, Harlow met and married Sandra Black on February 14, 2015, and spent the remainder of his years together.
Harlow attended the Koosharem School, Provo High School, and Brigham Young University. His career spanned 34 years in government service. First with the Air Force, then the Department of the Army, and finally the Federal Aviation Administration.
Harlow always loved Koosharem and maintained a close connection to the town even while moving about the country with his employment. He resided for longer periods in Provo/Orem and Hanksville, Utah, and Grand Junction and Denver, Colorado. In 1997, he and Carol retired to Koosharem living in a home which they had built over the years. Harlow served on the Koosharem Town Board including four terms as mayor. Carol and Harlow served as Conference Center tour guides and fulfilled a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Navajo Nation in Sheep Springs, New Mexico.
Harlow loved to fish and spent many days in his boat at Fish Lake trying to catch the “big one”. He enjoyed puttering in his garage, restoring and fixing the John Deere and Ford tractors, learning about American history, and telling stories. He was always working on a project and couldn’t ever sit still during his life.
Harlow Floyd Brown leaves behind a legacy of commitment and service. His contributions to his family, community, and country will be remembered and honored.
Harlow is preceded in death by his wife Carol, and brothers, Leonal (called Tiger), Marion (called Powder), Russell, Farrell, and Paul.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra; sister, Lorna Stapley (Kendall), children, Lezlie and Casey (Linnie); grandchildren, Kylie and Inza; and stepchildren, Allison Morant, Lesley Brown, Suellen Shook, Natassja McCoy, Leanne, Glen, Galen, Kelly, Kendal, Ryan, Natalie, and Robert (deceased) Black.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 12:00 Noon in the Koosharem Ward Chapel. There will be a viewing prior to services from 10:30 - 11:30 am at the church. Interment will be in the Koosharem Cemetery.
