Gwen Jackman
Sandy, Utah
Gwen Christensen Jackman, 103, passed away September 18, 2017 in Sandy, Utah. She was born February 2, 1914 in Richfield, Utah to LeRoy and Thurza Dalley Christensen. She married Charles Albert Jackman April 21, 1933 in the Manti LDS Temple.
Gwen’s life is marked by a life of love and service to all who knew her, including pianist and organist for ward choirs and care centers even after arthritis had taken much of the flexibility of her hands. Those hands were rarely idle. A teacher in youth groups, Relief Society, and genealogy classes, she was always ready to help. An amateur radio operator, W7NOB, she held a license for over 77 years which she recently renewed for another 25 years – always the optimist.
She is survived by children: Gayle (David) Waite, Boise, ID; Jerry (Julia) Jackman, Prineville, OR; Neal (Paulette) Jackman, Sandy, UT; siblings: Marguerite Blake and Marvin (Connie) Christensen, both of Richfield, UT. Pre-deceased by her husband, Charles, and daughter, Evelyn (Roy) Wilhelm and many other family and friends. She was the mother of 4 children, 23 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and 33 great-great grandchildren.
Loved by all who met her she will be dearly missed. We are comforted in the knowledge she is with her Lord and Savior.
