Our loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and best friend, Gloria LaVerne Hartle Abraham, 82, returned to her loving Father in Heaven on July 27, 2016 in St. George. Gloria was born September 26, 1933 in Richfield to Charles Lester and Iris Law Hartle.
Gloria grew up and attended school in Richfield with her two brothers and many best friends. On October 25, 1950, Gloria married her friend and true love, Rue Arthur Abraham in the Manti Temple. He passed away April 12, 2001.
Gloria loved to write and was a member of the Utah League of Writers where she won many awards. She also served as president and held many other positions. She was also a member of the National TOPS weight loss club in Richfield, where she also served as president and held many positions for many years.
A member of the LDS Church, Gloria served as Primary president, councilor, and a teacher in the Vermillion and Sigurd wards.
Rue and Gloria owned and operated their family’s business: Honest Abe Realty and Construction, in Richfield and surrounding areas, where they sold and built new homes and real estate for many years. They also built a cabin on Salina Creek where they spent countless hours visiting with family and friends.
The family would like to especially thank the nurses, CNA’s and staff at Applegate Hospice in St. George for the loving care and many kind acts over the past three months.
Gloria is survived by her children: Dianne Sloan, Tooele; Marilyn K (LeVoy) Sorensen, Cedar City; Lynn (Nedra) Abraham, St. George; 26 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; brothers: Charles Wayne (Louise) Hartle, Holiday; Leslie Dean (Donna) Hartle, Richfield. She loved her family so much.
She is also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Ruth Elaine Abraham; sons-in-law: John Charles Knight and Gerald Len Sloan; grandchildren: Jayson Charles Knight, Alisha Torgerson; nephew, Billy Abraham.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at 12:00 Noon in the Magleby Mortuary Chapel, 50 S 100 W, where friends may call from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
