Glen Haaland

Glen Arthur Haaland, 78, passed away January 25, 2013 at his home in Circleville. He was born September 26, 1934 in Seattle, Washington to Clarence Ordner Haaland and Nina Ethel Johnson.
Glen grew up and attended Bothell High School in Bothell, WA. He then joined the Navy and served aboard two different aircraft carriers during the Korean War: the USS Tarawa and the USS Midway. He married Sharon Adair Boe, on Aug 27, 1955 in Seattle, Washington and had two boys, Michael and Scott. After the service, he earned a BA from University of Washington in Seattle, then a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from California State University at Fullerton, California. After Sharon’s death in 1974, he married Clara "Cindy Elizabeth" Barton Hermli, May 29, 1974 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Glen and Cindy moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1977 and both worked briefly in the casino industry until they started Haaland Insurance in the early 1980’s. Glen retired from his insurance agency in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2002, and then started a cabinetry business in Circleville, Utah. He again retired in 2009.
Glen always enjoyed building something and you never found him without a project. He was a member of the V.F.W. Piute Post #7561 and enjoyed participating in the annual Independence Day parades and other V.F.W. activities. He loved playing poker with the local poker club, dancing at the senior dances in both Salina and Richfield, and spending time with his family.
Survived by children: Michael Haaland, Circleville; Jeff Clarke, Las Vegas, NV; Brenda (Richard) Lebens, Huntington Beach, CA; Jason Clarke, Las Vegas, NV; Travis (Megan) Clarke, Pittsburg, PA; 6 grandchildren; siblings: Audrey (Jerry) Cottom, Renton, WA; Margaret (Joseph) Ruhl, Edmonds, WA, Yvonne (Larry) Forcier, Bothell, WA; Gary (Carla) Haaland, Sultan, WA..
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Sharon; wife: Cindy; son: Scott Haaland.
Joint memorial services for Glen and Cindy will be held February 4, 2013 at 5:30 p.m. in the Marysvale Baptist Church, 180 N. State, Marysvale, Utah, with military rites provided by the V.F.W. Piute Post #7561. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
