Glen Nels Greener, 73, died peacefully in the early morning hours of March 13, 2019 in Provo.　 He was born November 3, 1945, in Salina, UT, to Dallas A. and Phyllis Hermansen Greener.　 He was the oldest of three brothers.

Glen attended public schools in Gunnison, after which he went to Snow College and the University of Utah, graduating with a degree in Political Science.　 He applied this degree toward a career in public service, including the State of Utah, Salt Lake County, and Salt Lake City governments.　 Most notably, Glen was elected to serve two terms as Salt Lake City’s Public Safety Commissioner.　 At the time, at age 27, he was the youngest person in the United States to ever be elected to that position of responsibility.　 As a commissioner, as with everything he did, Glen was a tireless and innovative leader, striving to make Salt Lake City a better place to live, and he was more than successful in that endeavor.

Following his term, Glen relocated to Southern California where he became self-employed as a political consultant, working with cities in the area to accomplish major civic projects.　 He also managed several election campaigns.　 Because of his success as a consultant, his services were widely sought.

After many years in California, Glen returned to Salt Lake City where he married Debra Nielson on January 10, 2009.　They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on October 1, 2014. Together they have dedicated themselves toward the common good, active in their church and community.　 Their first priority, however, was assisting in the caring for Debbie’s aging mother until her passing.　 In 2017, Glen and Debbie moved back to Glen’s roots in Gunnison, where he became active in the Lions Club, Church callings and assignments, volunteering at the Central Utah Corrections Facility, serving on Gunnison’s Planning and Zoning Committee, and a host of other projects and undertakings that might help to better his community.　 However, of all Glen’s accomplishments, recognitions and achievements, his time spent with Debbie has been undoubtedly the happiest ten years of his life.

Glen leaves behind his wife Debbie; daughter, Heather (Frank) Adams, grandchildren: Jenna Adams and Chase Greener; brothers: Paul (Linda) and Phil (Beverly), and Debbie’s two children. Also his first wife, LaRee (divorced). He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Jason.

Funeral services will be Monday, March 18, 2019 at 12:00 Noon in the Gunnison Stake Center, 80 West Center, where friends may call for　viewings Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00 pm or Monday from 10:00-11:30 am.
