G. LaRell Faatz

A life long farmer and rancher, Gordon LaRell Faatz, 79, of Manti, UT passed away at the Gunnison Valley Hospital on March 6, 2018. LaRell was born on August 20, 1938 in Sterling, UT to Ithamore and Elnor Funk Faatz.

LaRell served as a member of the National Guard and was proud of his service and country. He worked as a firefighter for the forest service in Idaho. He married his sweetheart, Ireta Marie Madsen, on November 9, 1960 in Sterling, UT. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple on April 19, 1965. LaRell was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in many different callings.

LaRell worked at IFA in Ephraim and as a postal carrier for the USPS until his retirement. He enjoyed herding cattle on the mountain with his son Russell. LaRell loved spending time outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing, or riding his 4-wheeler.

LaRell is survived by his wife, Ireta; children, Stephanie (Craig) Howard, Holladay; and Russell (Mindy) Faatz, Manti; sisters, Belva Otten and Lola (Milton) Denison; and 6 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Cynthia; and brother-in-law, Ray Otten.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Manti 9th Ward Chapel. Friend may call prior to services from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church.
