Gladys Ross

Gladys G. Ross, 91, of Draper and formerly of Richfield, passed away peacefully on  December 8, 2014 in Draper. She lived a full life devoted to her marriage, family, friends and her LDS faith. She was born on January 1, 1923 to Henry Martinus and Abigail Irene Grover Green in Beaver, Utah. She grew up in Beaver and graduated from Beaver High School with honors in math. She married Wendell D. Ross in Ely, Nevada on September 20, 1941. The marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple, June 24, 1943. He preceded her in death May 14, 2004.

Gladys loved to play the organ, piano and accordion and was a great musician. She and Wendell were members of the Old Time Fiddlers Association for several years. Some of her favorite hobbies were doll making, candy making, crossword puzzles, sewing, and making jewelry. She was well known for her sense of humor and practical jokes. She was an avid collector (of everything) and could find a use for anything.

She worked in Beaver at the sewing factory and the Beaver Valley Hospital. After moving to Richfield, she worked as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service delivering mail to the residents of Richfield. During their early years, she and Wendell moved their family to many places in the United States while Wendell served in the Air Force. Gladys and Wendell served an LDS mission to the Family History Center in Salt Lake City and were ordinance workers for more than six years in the Manti Temple.

She is survived by her children: David (Susan) Ross, Roger Ross, Paul Dean (Mary) Ross, Russell (Terilyn) Ross, Rinda (Joe) Viveros; 13 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren.

She is also preceded in death by an infant son, Robin Ross; grandson, Jeffrey Ross; her parents; sisters, Ina Wood and Imelda Banks; brother, LaVoy Green; daughter-in-law, Alayne Ross.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at 12:00 Noon in the Magleby Mortuary Chapel, where friends may call on Thursday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery.
