Gerald "Jerry" Jarvis, 82, passed away June 20, 2015 in Sterling. He was born March 31, 1933 in Magna to Samuel Patterson and Hannah Pricilla Shepherd Jarvis. He married Darlene Eyre, March 25, 1955 in Sandy. The marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple, June 27, 1962. She preceded him in death June 21, 2005.

Jerry grew up in Pleasant Grove, served in the US Navy in Japan and in Hawaii. He loved gardening, especially growing blackberries and raspberries.

He worked at Kennecott Copper as a purchasing agent until his retirement. He and his wife moved to Sevier Valley and worked for the US Forest Service for 6 years. He often spent time at the Monroe Senior Center with his friends. Jerry enjoyed his morning walks and spending time with his family and friends.

He loved living in Monroe, it was a place he always called home. Every time the family drove in from the south he’d always say, "Look at that pretty Little Green Valley".

He is survived by children: Kathy (Wayne) Jemison, Bluffdale; Cheryl (Randy) Cook, Sterling; Sandra (Phillip) Harris, South Jordan; Michael (Alyssa) Jarvis, Richfield; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his loving wife, Darlene; he is also preceded in death by the parents who raised him; his mother, Edna Izatt; siblings: Burnell, Burton, Gene, Sherlyn, Bliss, and Keith; granddaughter, Melissa.

The family wishes to thank the Gunnison Hospice and Home Care nurses for their loving care of their father.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 26, 2015 at 12:00 Noon in the Magleby Mortuary Chapel, 50 South 100 West in Richfield, where friends may call on Friday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Monroe City Cemetery with military rites by the Monroe American Legion Post #37 and the US Navy Honor Guard. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
