Geraldine "Gerry" Rosenvall Whitlock Larson, 96, our beloved and fun-loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away June 16, 2018 in the Gunnison Valley Hospital. She was born May 6, 1922 in Gunnison to Lenno Garland and Loretta Jepson Rosevnall.
Following high school graduation, she studied at Stevens Heneger Business College in Salt Lake City while living with her aunt Cody.
She married Royal C. Whitlock in Louisville, Kentucky on September 1, 1943 while he was stationed as a glider pilot instructor with the US Army Air Corps. He preceded her in death October 8, 1997. After Royal’s service in the military, they returned to Gunnison where he started a farm equipment business, currently known as the Gunnison Implement Company.
Gerry was a very busy mom and home maker. After her family was grown, she became more involved in the family business as an accountant and bookkeeper. During this time, as the business grew they were very active in many civic projects.
Gerry was active in the Church working in the library and playing the organ, she loved music, while in high school, she played piano duets with Norma Edwards.
Gerry began a new and exciting chapter in her life when she was reunited with a former high school friend, Robert Larson. They were married June 3, 2000. Gerry and Robert enjoyed their life together traveling and visiting with family and friends. Gerry loved and lived life to the fullest.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; son, Carl; step-daughters: Janice (Dale) Carpenter, Suzanne Bang, Gaylene (Mitch) Seaman, Melanie Ellison; 5 grandsons; 9 step-grandchildren; numerous great and great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jean; brother-in-law, Herb.
In addition to her parents and first husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Cathy; siblings: Clay, Terry, Virginia, Clyde; and granddaughter, Teresa.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 22, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Gunnison LDS Stake Center where friends may call Friday morning from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Gunnison City Cemetery.
The family extends appreciation to the caring staff at Gunnison Valley Hospital and for the love and care provided to her at Community Care Center in Centerfield.
